G'day for Friday! SFR, enjoy the sunshine while you have it! We're getting ready for the Melbourne Cup next Tuesday, and apparently Melbourne is about to get a month's rain in two days, or something like that! Which means - forget the Fashions on the Field, wear gumboots! I had another busy day today - too many of them. First, a conference call for the second staff selection panel at difficult child 3's school. I should have been there in person but they took pity on me... after that, I had to collect easy child 2/difficult child 2 and drive her to a therapist appointment in the city. Meanwhile I took along more paperwork - the applications for staffing panel No 3. Nearly a hundred applications to sort through. I was half-expecting a phone call from panel convenor (panel no 2) because there were still some things needing doing. easy child 2/difficult child 2's therapist appointment - we were organising some appointments for her, made some calls while we were there. Made another call as we left, trying to sort out her new specialist appointment for her surgery. They said they'd call back. Frustrating - late Friday afternoon by now and we really needed answers. From there we drove to husband's work, he had some stuff for us to collect for him to bring home. It wasn't time for him to leave, so we headed off into the peak hour traffic, trying to be ahead of the worst of it. It was good to have the time to chat to easy child 2/difficult child 2 along the way. I was remembering the therapist, talking about the need for her to have a psychiatric Special Education support teacher at college, working on her case. He sure got HER number fast! As we drove home, easy child 2/difficult child 2's mobile phone rang - the specialist's secretary, organising the emergency appointment. Next Saturday morning! Yay! So next week is all mapped out, we finally have the specialist we need for easy child 2/difficult child 2, things will happen now. It will cost extra but we think it will be worth it. This is what private health insurance is for. I dropped her off at her place then continued on home. Very tired. Got in, got some more paperwork done (emails etc) then catnapped for five minutes before heading to mother in law's with my paperwork. I've got about half of it done. ANd one more thing tonight - some publishing work for my client who I have to see briefly in the morning, before I head off to a meeting where I KNOW I'm going to get elected to committee, and although I don't really want it, I can't really avoid it. I ducked out of it last year and have to do it now. It feels like each day is a desperate effort to avoid being overloaded with too much to do, and I'm just keeping ahead of it, like a Red Queen's Race. Sunday looks like being quieter than we expected, so I'm going to rest up as far as I can. From Monday on, it will be busy! Weather is gently warming up here. A little more rain would be welcome, but since I'm too busy to go to the beach I'd like summer to wait just a little bit longer. Another week or two, and I'll have more time. I hope. Enjoy your Friday. Marg
