If you have a few prayers to spare ...

You may have heard on the news about the bus from Harrah's Casino in Tunica, Mississippi that was wrecked on it's way to the airport with a group of tourists from South Carolina. At least 30 of the 43 passengers were hurt, one news website says three were killed, another says four, still another said two. One of the people that died in the accident was my son-in-laws mom. They live in South Carolina but she frequently enjoyed taking these little "package deal" weekend jaunts with a long-time friend. The bus from Harrah's was taking them back to the airport to fly home to South Carolina when the accident happened. Her friend was hurt but is expected to recover.

Such a horrible, shocking thing to happen to such a nice family. Of course, they're all just devastated. Her husband will be lost without her and sister in law and his younger brother were both very close to their mom. And my daughter thought the world of her and is just heartbroken. This was a very special lady who welcomed my girl in to their family and treated her like the daughter she never had. She is the one who put on the big wedding that the kids couldn't afford on their own because she wanted them to have it, the one my daughter went shopping with all the time, the one who helped them decorate their house and popped in to visit so often.

I just feel so bad for all of them, like there should be something I could do to make it all better again for them, but there's not. So if anyone has any spare prayers of comfort, understanding and acceptance for sister in law's family, they would be very much appreciated.

Adding my prayers too.

This is all over my local news as we wait to see if anyone from our local area was involved. Such a tragedy.

Thank you all so much for the prayers and good thoughts for my daughter & sister in law's family. It is much appreciated.

Janet, the website for one of the Charleston TV stations says that one of the victims was from the Charleston area which, I guess, would be sister in law's mom. They live in a suburb of Charleston. They haven't released the names yet and it doesn't say where the other two were from, but I would think they would be from that area. The Harrah's charter flight went from Charleston to Memphis, then they rode on buses from Memphis to Tunica, Mississippi. The accident occurred when they were going back to the Memphis Airport to fly home. There were actually two buses, but only one was involved in the accident. So very, very sad. I haven't heard from my daughter again since her first call and when my son tried to call her, he just got her voice mail, so we'll just have to wait and see what's going on. I just feel so bad for them all.

Oh Donna.

Rarely do posts make tears spring to my eyes much anymore, but yours did. What a horrible tragedy. I am so very sorry.

Immediate prayers for comfort for the entire family.
