I don't know what I'd do without my animals. difficult child always asks, 'Why do we even have TV? We don't need it, we have our pets!' They're definitely entertaining. Especially little Abbey. She's into and on top of everything. She has the best time. We have the new addition now, too. The 'foster' kitty who I think is going to become permanent. He gets along so well with Abbey and Puddles - no one gets along with Baby Kitty; she doesn't like anyone. And he's the same age as Abbey so they can keep up with each other energy wise. The two of them together, though, have become destructive. I really don't mind. It's what happens when you have pets. You learn to artfully drape blankets on the couch to hide the damage from kitty claws when the cat scratcher hasn't been replaced and keep your breakables secured. The foster kitty - Hydro is his name from his previous owner and difficult child won't let me change it - is so easygoing and laid back. He's the most laid back cat I've ever known. Affectionate, but not overly. More like Abbey. He wants to be in the same room with you and he's content. He actually got in my lap for the first time this week. He was food aggressive initially, but he's backed off on that. I've kept food down all the time and he's not freaking out if the bowls get empty. He just meows like the others do. However, we're going through a lot of cat food and he's put on a lot of weight in a short time, so I'm going to start doing restricted feeding - just have feeding times instead of food all day long. Puddles really needs that, too. It infuriates me when his previous owner told me they couldn't wait to get rid of him; that he was making them crazy and that he was too needy. I bet if I locked him (the owner) in a basement and ignored him and forgot to feed and water him, he'd be needy, too. I have seen none of that here. Nada. Zip. Zilch. He's just as happy as can be. He still has to master the art of stalking and pouncing, though. Abbey would be a beautiful hunter to watch. Hydro is still pretty sloppy. He's getting there, though. Of course, the only thing they 'hunt' is my hand. A couple of nights ago when I was going to bed, Jewel (the dog), Hydro, Puddles and Baby Kitty were all on my bed. And all on my side. I'm trying to get in and snake around them AND pull up the covers and not a one of them was at all inclined to move. LOL Normally, they'll move and let me get settled and they'll resettle. I guess they were really comfortable this time. The 2 that I had to move so I could actually get more than half of my bottom in the bed acted so put out. LOL Yep. I love my babies.
