Random drug testing and old fears that never die

I send difficult child a text yesterday asking a question and I knew she wasn't allowed to have her phone until breaks so I didn't expect an answer right away. To my surprise she did answer and this was our conversation:

Me: Why do you have your phone, did you get fired (that fear never goes away)
difficult child: (after a very long time which made me very nervous) No I'm on my way to a drug test
Me: WHY???
difficult child: (after a very long time again making me very very nervous) No it's my random test that I have to do four times a year
Me: Oh ok, are you going to pass?
difficult child: Of course

I waited about a half hour until I felt certain she was finished

Me: Are you done?
difficult child: Yes
Me: Did you pass?
difficult child: With flying colors!

Whew.

Hallelujah! Good for her!

Yes, those old fears never die. I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop, although I act very casual, it's just a front. Inside, I always think the wheels are going to fall off again.
