I don’t like to complain too much, but I must echo what SWOT said.... I hate going to a restaurant with someone who doesn’t tip properly or complains unnecessarily in hopes of getting a free or partially free meal. Yes, there are some people who do this. I had a mother in law once that wouldn’t tip enough. She thought $5 was enough no matter the cost of the meal and no matter how many people at the table. We had to bring cash to leave for the wait staff on the rare occasion that she paid for a meal. She would complain about this, too, thinking it too much cash to leave. I don’t understand why she didn’t get the concept of “they make $2 per hour and must pay taxes on what they are assumed to have made in tips”. I have been known to not accept another date from a man who doesn’t tip properly. I think it shows bad character. I know this couple who complain at every meal, hoping for a freebie, and brag about it. I went out with them exactly once and won’t ever go again. Interesting thing is, they are going to inherit millions when his 90+ year old father passes, but they still treat the wait staff this way (and others as well). Always scamming.
