Sever psychiatrists I have talked to say they do not feel that a benzo is a long term solution for anxiety. It works quickly but when it wears off you hit a wall. I guess if it's just at bedtime it may be okay. The better solution is therapy to help deal with the anxiety with minimal medications. At least for my son this is what he needs to do. I have never taken anything at all like that and I know my son cannot take them ever again. I used to try to control them and lock them up but he'd break into the locked cabinet. I even brought them to work and he stole my badge from my car one night and came into my office building at 2am one morning. Somehow he did not get caught. I was MORTIFIED when I found out. I work in safety and security for a steel company and my boss would have popped a gasket if he knew that happened. I was so afraid he'd find out but luckily he did not. He also took my corporate credit card out of my desk and bought $15 in gas and put it back in my desk. So he came in two times that night. I had to explain that too but I just said I used it for gas by accident so it was not a big deal. This was many years ago but just an example of the lengths he'd go to.
