Travis: I love that no matter how hard life is or how hard it is for him to do things, many of which are things we all take for granted, he never gives up, he never gives in. He just keeps going. Nichole: Her inborn gift/connection with animals. Yes, it's been a major pain when she's brought home one stray after another......... But honestly I find it simply amazing how a terrified, injured, or even vicious animal will calm in her presence and seek her out, both domesticated and wild. They trust her completely, profoundly. I've always had a "way" with animals, but nothing compared to hers. Sends chills down my spine when I see it in action. I'll never forget the time we were out in the middle of no where and suddenly I found 7 yr old Nichole covered head to toe in the most beautiful butterflies I've ever seen. It's easy with a difficult child to get caught up in the day to day drama and the difficult child behavior. When it's like that it can be really hard to remember the good things we cherish about them and certain things that make them special in our hearts. It's good from time to time to step back and re-focus on the good points to help keep the difficult child part in perspective.
