difficult child had a psychiatrist appointment tonight. We talked a lot about his how impulsive he is. It seems much more ADHDish than his bipolar. We decided we are going to try Strattera (sp?) again. It has been 6 years since we have tried any ADHD medications and he seems much more stable now than he did then.

Every time in the past we have tried any ADHD medications (including Strattera) it was bad news. I didn't think we would go down this route again but it does seem like the right thing to do. He is 14 and still can't sit in a class for more than 5 or 10 minutes.

Please cross your fingers that this doesn't send him into mania or cause him to be violent!! Thanks in advance!

Hope it helps! And NO BAD side effects! It is a hard gamble, but one that we need to take sometimes. No child should have to go through all of this. Let us know how it goes... saying a little prayer for him now...

Good luck! Trying new medications is a scary thing, but re-trying old ones that didn't work first time round must be much worse. Wishing you all the luck in the world. :)

My son was put back on strattera yesterday in combination with his atunive. His issue with the strattera was sleepiness. Hopefully that will be the worst side effect.

Crossing all crossables for you.

Fingers crossed. Has he ever been on Guafacine, Tenex or part of that family? Hugs DDD

Thanks Ladies! So far so good-he did say he slept two hours at school today (his sense of time is off so hard to know for sure). He did seem a bit less talkative tonight but don't know if that was due to the medications. The psychiatrist is starting him off at a lower than normal dosage in the hopes that if we go up slowly it will have less of a chance of sending him into mania.
