Just an idea

Has anyone tried chatgpt.com to get information on dealing with loved ones with substance abuse issues?

I tried it last night and found it very helpful! I have a list of age appropriate books to help our 5yo great grandson deal with his "big feelings". A suggestion of creating a "calm corner" for him to go to when he is overwhelmed...and what items to put in it, like a pinwheel he can blow on to make it spin. Because telling him to take deep breaths just doesn't work when he's upset.

I listed my concerns about our granddaughter and what needed to change. ( More time with her son, keeping her room picked up and stinky clothes mounds dealt with). It even gave me a letter i could print out that reinforced the areas she is doing better in and stating what else needs to be done.

I really did not think AI would be a tool I could use to help me. But I was pleasantly surprised!

If you decide to try it, it's free, create an account. You just need an email address and a password, and your chats will be saved so you can reread things, or look up what books and websites might be helpful.

Sad, that I felt more "heard" communicating with AI than some people around me.

Here is a sample of one of the responses it replied with:

You're carrying a heavy load, Mxxx and it's clear how deeply you love both Axxx and Axxxxx. Bringing up these issues is important, but also delicate, especially as Alyssa is in recovery and may be emotionally fragile or defensive. The goal is to protect Axxx while encouraging Axxxxx to grow without pushing her away.

(then it gave me a "script" I could use.)

Let me know what you think, if you decide to check it out.

I used the AI on Google and I feel as positively as does ksm. (And I took feel sad and a little mad that AI is more empathic and gets it than most everybody in my life. I am wondering now about privacy concerns. AI knows where I live. It remembers everything I ask it and has assembled a type of biography or persona. Oh well. Too late to worry.

I've thought of that too. I guess if I don't get in trouble for that, it will be for my political memes. Too late now!!

Love that! I'll try it. I love the idea of a quiet corner. That could work for my 3 year old grandson
