What is it with construction terms???

While my roof was being repaired a "belly" was discovered in the roof & in the ceiling. What the heck is a belly in the roof? I'll tell you ~ about $1000 of extra labor.

While my floors were being sanded the sanders (I guess that's what it's called) found that my floor "pickled". What is pickling in a floor ~ it's a stain. Just call it a stain.

Why do plumbers use nipples & where the heck do they use them?

There are a few more (wish I had kept a list) that I find interesting; more I find the terms to be weird ~ I'd like to know how the terms came to be. None of the construction crew seems to know.

Could be they are messing with me. Ya think?

Hahaha, my H is in construction and he is always using these strange terms as well. I always have to ask him to please use 'laymen' terms when explaining his jobs to me. Some are self explanatory while others really make you wonder...lol.

Sorry about the extra expenses. That bites.
