Any advice on Guanfacine?

Hi,

I'm just curious if anyone knows much about Guanfacine in young children diagnosis with ADHD and ODD. Psychiatrist said it would help with hyperactivity and high irritability. I'm doing some research on the web but would welcome any thoughts from someone with experiences with this or knowledge about it. We just quit a trial of Strattera that made him more defiant and more violent. ugh.

Most will recognize guanfacine by its brand name Tenex. It's a blood pressure medication sometimes used off label for ADHD. It's not usually the first medication trialed in younger children but we do hear of it sometimes.

In the end, it's always a matter of trial and error.
