Sandy, I have NO DOUBT he's engaging in some typical teenage boy self-absorption during these marathon showers. That's probably the main reason he's in there so long. But whatever the reason, he has to stop.

So we'll try the timer thing again and impose some more consequences. And if that doesn't work, I'll just turn off the water to the house until he gets out.

GCV, you don't have to turn off the whole house water. That's a lot of trouble. Just go to your water heater, and you will find a valve on top that looks like the outside faucet. Turn it clockwise until it stops, and there will be no hot water to the house. People can still flush and brush teeth and wash hands, etc... Turn it back in 15 - 20 minutes.
