Abilify, created angelic, attention focused twin??

The babysitter just called me and asked, "does difficult child have a nice twin"? Yesterday and today he has been a totally different kid. Yesterday he NEVER cussed, NEVER lost it and NEVER went into meltdown. HE was sweet and nice to her ALL DAY, HELPED a little boy who was having a tantrum in the...

    Kind of sad about School

We are finishing up our awesome IEP report!!! But since we have been having lengthy discussions with Ms. J (K's teacher) she has unfortunately seen K start to fall apart. School is going on 4 weeks now. I think the School thought at first that we were asking for a lot. Because K presents so...

    In your opinion to

What medication targets aggression the best. I am taking a poll as to which medication. works best for your child. My son is on Risperdal. It was the first medication to help ,but I feel it is starting to poop out. So I'm just wondering what has worked well for others with aggressive kids. Thanks.

About to send difficult child to residential!!!

Ok, so today was absolutely aweful!! difficult child was playing outside with the neighborhood kids when not once, not twice, nope...not even three times....try FOUR meltdowns. I mean kicking, screaming, banging his head against the cement pillar outside, the back door, and his closet door (and broke it)...

    shocked at on-call psychiatrist's 'solution'.

Sorry I've been absent for so long, we've been super busy and handling lots of changes. Recently we changed difficult child's medications from risperdal and depakote to abilify and a slightly higher dosage of depakote. The risperdal just wasn't working. Changing over took just under a month and we have been doing...

    Anyone done this medication combo?

difficult child 2 has moved into full blown Early Onset Bipolar 1 since starting school the beginning of Sept. A lot of mixed symptoms that culminated in aggressive rages. While I was pretty sure he would end up with a BiPolar (BP) diagnosis his psychiatrist was on the fence and stuck with the Mood Disorder not otherwise specified label until a...

    Stopping a hysterical difficult child....how??

We all know that once our difficult child's become irrational, there's no way of getting through to them until they're calm. But I need some advice on the following. difficult child starts crying hysterically over the smallest thing, which is normally in his control to fix or do if he just did it. For example: this...

    Is there hope?

How do reach a child that is engulfed in abandonment and despair? She looks to her me, her mom for the answers, to guide her, to love her. Mother says you can reach for the stars, you can do it, only to come back with an empty hand, broken and defeated. My daughter, the reason I breathe is...

    BiPolar (BP) rage, control

Any comments on the following: the medication (abilify 7mg) keeps things quite wonderful (except for some excess weight) most of the time but once every few days, when he's tired, he'll go into a mode where he wants to control everyone completely and then of course is frustrated and lashes out in a...

    Geodon

Ehh, I dunno, I'm not liking this drug. We started it Sunday. Anyone have any experience with it? The psychiatrist said when we start, at only 20 mg., it could stimulate Dylan. So, he said, if that happens, to increase the dose to 40 mg., that would calm him. I didn't ask (and am kicking myself now)...

What mood disorder medications have worked for your difficult child?

My son is going to see his psychiatrist again Thursday, his father is going to call me after the appointment. His dad said the therapist also suggest doing some kind of mood disorder medication. and I have searched online at a few different ones but mainly found them for adults. Tics, some sort of siezure, or jus a stimulant?

Wee has been increasingly doing some odd things. I've spoken briefly to his teacher about it, and she's seeing it, too. Is there a way to distinguish a tic or an involuntary movement from a stimulant or just a habit? In situations where before he would get frustrated or angry, he rubs at his...

Ugh in the past two months, I have had Lithium thrown out on the table to me for difficult child II, 3 times. Today makes 4 times. Sigh............. I am on the fence on this one. Experiences with Risperdal ?

My difficult child is BiPolar (BP) & has been on Risperdal for about nine months. He has really been doing well on it as far as behaviors and NO big rages. Other than weight gain issues, he has tolerated this medication well. The last couple of months he has been complaining that his legs feel really weird. He has...

Suspended from school for the rest of the year. Problems, Problems, more problems.

difficult child didn't like that the teacher sent her to in-house for the day for being disrespectful, so she had showed everyone, a fraction of what I get at home. They couldn't believe it, 5 school administrators, social workers and teachers couldn't redirect her. She cursed and screamed and tapped her...
