Seems like the fastest way to get help for yourself is when things get bad enough that you start making life difficult for the specialists in your kids' lives...
Did that on a Friday, then over the weekend asked to "rewind the tape" - and frankly spoke up and explained that after xx years of dealing with this stuff, I need help too...
And voila! recommendation of excellent adult-level psychiatric for medications review (need m.d. referral, but should be able to get that), and recommendation of well-respected counselling team (tied to m.d.'s practice, so should be able to get that too), AND offer to bridge me until those come through, AND... seems like we're back on the "same page" as far as the kid is concerned...
Maybe sometimes we just have to find the right buttons to push - and it seems like for me, I'm always pushing the WRONG ONES!
