Good Saturday Morning!

Good morning everyone!

Winter is still letting us wait for itself. We are in higher thirties and world couldn't be greyer place. Drizzle, haze and grey, grey and grey. And of course we already have less than seven hours day-light, so a joy! But just now when I look out of my kitchen window it is still almost pretty. And we should get our winter next week at last.

I'm planning to go and watch easy child's game today, difficult child is apparently fishing/drinking with his former coach to help him get his head straight. Worried about him and how low he is feeling, but nothing to be done there.

I should start cleaning for Christmas but really not feeling that (but I never am.) But at least I have to get windows washed from outside because as I said, winter is finally coming.

I'm feeling little bit melancholy, could already use some snow and light that brings. But on the other hand at times a bit of melancholy is good, inspires some deeper thinking and feeling. And this certainly is that time of a year.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Here's the poem for you, SuZir - Emily Dickinson in good melancholic form:

There's a certain slant of light,
On winter afternoons,
That oppresses, like the weight
Of cathedral tunes.

Heavenly hurt it gives us;
We can find no scar,
But internal difference
Where the meanings are.

None may teach it anything,
'Tis the seal, despair,-
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the air.

When it comes, the landscape listens,
Shadows hold their breath;
When it goes, 't is like the distance
On the look of death.

Have a good weekend :)

Good Morning,

SuZir-I hope you get your winter's light soon:)

Malika-What a beautiful poem!

Although we have no snow the winter temps are here-hopefully will not last long unless we get snow to go with it. Heading to boot camp in a bit and then watching the Michigan vs Ohio State game! Later husband and his sisters and nieces are going to the casino for a bit. I'll be supervising the 4 boys (difficult child and 3 of my great nephews). I'm having them put up the Christmas tree-give me strength!!

I hope everyone has moments of peace in their day:)

Thank you, Malika! Really beautiful and very fitting poem.

LOL, maybe I should try same remedy for my melancholy difficult child is trying for his slump. If few days of fishing and bottle of vodka don't help, you do know you are in trouble after all...
