Very interesting story. It will be quite a while before the "simple" test for the gene is widely used, but hopefully it will help. Maybe it will make treating our depressed kids (and others) more effective, and less full of strife. I know that with-o an antidepressant my difficult child tries to kill himself. been there done that since he was a young child. I also know that many did not work or quit working.

I wonder if this gene will mutate or modify itself as treatment with an antidepressant goes on. Maybe it will start kicking out the AD after a while, when it didn't at first. Finding out if this happens could mean a whole new way of handling chronic depression. I just know that many AD's quit working after a while, this may be the reason.

Hopefully soon science will turn dxing and rxing for depression in to more of a science than the art it is now.
