Do not know how to discipline 4 year old daughter

My daughter is 4 and she is not afraid of timeouts, or anything. The slightest most trivial thing will throw her into a tantrum for which you cannot reason with her. Do not know what to do. It is to the point where she is not enjoyable to be around. She also has terrible tantrums when she is told "no". Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, and welcome.

We're just a bunch of other parents with challenging kids... yours sounds interesting. Can you tell us more about her? When did her challenges start? is she adopted? how stable has her life been? any interesting family history (things like MI or Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), prenatal drug/alcohol exposure, etc.)?

We would need to know more about her to really help. How was she as an infant a nd up until now. Any delays? Any odd quirks? Does she make eye contact with you and with strangers? Can she play well with other children? It is probably time to get her a neuropsychologist evaluation.

Your child is not just a "bad" little girl. Something else is going on and it's not your fault or a parenting problem.

Welcome to the board although....sorry you had to come here.

Sending support your way. Also, suggesting that you look at the section on our Board for parents of younger children. As much as we love them.........difficult child's do vary by age and that is why we have multiple sub Board areas. It's labeled the early childhood zone. Hugs DDD
