Just found this today (it came a couple of days ago and my email filter tucked it away): "Happy Birthday, Mom. I was gonna call yesterday, but apparently the number i dialed is no longer in service. I hope your birthday this year is as isolationist as possible. Id send you a card but i don't think you'd want that. oh and Merry Christmas." 
He has mad passive-aggression skillz; I didn't know "Merry Christmas" and "F U" were interchangeable, lol. I didn't comment, but his mail and the photo he wanted are going in the post today. It'll be interesting to see whether sending him his stuff triggers another barrage of jerkiness, or if he just accepts it and moves on.
